mickey has come and go...

I didn't see wrongly. The wheezing pass of the shadow is real and it belongs to, as guessed, a MOUSE!!!

After a hilarious night of building a mouse trap by 2 aeronautical engineers and an electrical engineer (who "provided" most of the joke), we caught the mouse and joseph gave him (yeah, cw confirmed that it's a him) his name... a name happily accepted by the rest of the household.

It's a small little mouse, whose picture can be seen in jac's blog. I wanted to wait till i get hold of the pic b4 i blog abt it, but i cant be bothered to find out which of my housemates took a pic of it. Yeah... so that's the little ting, who confirmed that mcvities is a better option than cadbury choc biscuits.

waited for one whole week for jac to come collect, cos otherwise we'll kill it (or so we say...) with lots of ideas: drowning it(most common method), boiling it, putting it in a plastic bag and whirl it till it gets dizzy b4 we smashed its head(instant death hopefully), put it out in the balcony so that it'll freeze to death, leave it to starve and thirst, fry it in hot oil, blahblahblah. but i guess all along, everyone of us was hoping that jac would keep it, cos none of us could bear to kill it. >_< it's actually pretty cute... especially when it's eating or licking itself 'clean'.

and finally she took it away. just when we tot we could visit it once in a while, to our dismay, after reading her blog, she's releasing it after all. sigh... poor mouse. it's gonna be killed in another house i guess.

it is the bed bugs after all

for all who have been following the bug story closely, i'm sorry to have grossed u peeps out. but here's the confirmation: it's the BED BUGS!!!!!!!

the confirmation comes from our very own imperial ecologist, the one who knows it all about insects (and other animals of cos): jacqueline lau~ hahaha... sorry to spell ur name in full jac.. =P aniway, yeah... she saw the pic of the bug and confirmed with confidence that it's a familiar bug she knows... bed bugs.

as to how i got hold of the pic... it's not the pic of the ones we caught a few days back. cos i wun want to look at them again... not to say, focus my camera at them to take a pic. this pic was taken on the 29th of October, a day when almost everyone in my house were not around. tat afternoon, i happened to look into the hood of this gigantic yellow timberland waterproof jacket which i onli wear once a year, because it's too enormous for me and i onli wear it when bobian it's raining cats and dogs in london. the jacket was very dirty with stains... i took it out, and saw this 5 x 7 mm big insect. EEEEKS! i scared it can fly... so helplessly, i had to make a hasty decision to get it out of my room. onto the little 'balcony' just outside my room!!! yeah that's a good idea.. i flicked it away from the hood of the jacket and closed my window tight. but i felt the need to show someone how the bug looked like.... so i took a pic of it while it's crawling on the balcony. that's how the pic comes from.

after that, i couldn't figure out what it is. i tot it's some cockroach... or aniting harmless. so that's it. i left it as it is. turns out that the bug in the pic looked exactly like the ones we caught. of cos i didn't confirm it cos i dun dare to look into the container. hahaha....

in any case, i hafen got anymore bites for 2 days cos after spotting them on my bed, i dun dare to touch my bed animore. which kinda make me more certain that the bed bugs are the culprit, and the only one too. the landlord is sending some pest control guys down this thurs... i just hope that they really can do smtg about it. In addition, please give me a new bed. i dun really dare to sleep on the old one again.

oh... and hope that the pest guys can solve the ant problems too. my cupboard has lots of them... and some even have the nerves to crawl on my clothes. ant baits were already bought and used. but they dun solve the problem totally. my dustbin is like an ant cemetry... the total number of ants i killed in my room is more than the total number of ants i've killed in my entire life. no exaggeration there.

and i tot i saw some flying shadow in the corner of the triple room last night. which we tot was a mouse/rat.

why must all insect/pest related issues in the house be 'started' by me??? the first one to see, the first one to be bitten, the first one to be irritated, graaaaaaaaaar~!

first breakthrough

a startling discovery was made!!! it could be the first step in solving the case of the mysterious insect bites!!

what happened was that.. after dinner, i fell asleep on my bed, on top of the duvet, for 45min. after i woke up... in my drowsiness, i realized i was starting to scratch... boohoo... new bites. =( i was already out of bed then. somehow i went back to the bed again, i tink i wanted to arrange my duvet a little since it's a bit out of place, not too sure.... that was then in my blurred vision, i see smtg moving. i took a closer quick look... "argh damn ant!!" but eh... how come this ant so big one? look like those big red ants lidat... i was about to swipe it off the bed when... "gosh... dun tell me this is it????" it was on top of the duvet, the location is exactly where the back of my neck was when i was sleeping... and i have a new bite at the back of my neck at the exact location. how coincidental eh??

no... not a coincidence. THIS may be THE ONE i'm looking for!!!! i immediately called cw for help... cos i really dun dare to touch it. >_< he caught it and trapped it in a container. after melvin did some analysis and comparison from pictures online, they concluded that it is highly possible that it's a bed bug... a bloated, full of blood one. *URRRRRGH!!!!* cw went back to my bed to look for more evidence.... and surprisingly, another much smaller, normal one was found. like all of a sudden they decided to make their appearance together after a month of hide and seek. the big one in the container now has a companion.

well... and so it's the "bed bugs". but somehow i'm still not convinced. i ruled out the bed bugs long ago... always thinking it's some flying insects because i'm bitten anywhere in the house at anytime of the day. and when i'm sleeping, only the exposed part not under the duvet is bitten. if it's the bed bugs... they wouldn't miss my legs totally when i'm wearing shorts right?? and when i'm bitten out of bed, not sleeping, i cant possibly miss the big bloated bug after it had its full meal wat....

confused. dun understand. somehow i feel that the bed bugs are not the only ones around... but oh well, it's always good to have someone to blame, whether they are the real culprit or not. at least i feel that i'm on my way to solving the mystery.

and by the way, i was damn freaked out... and is still a little traumatised. i am very disgusted by the fact that that hideous looking insect actually climbed onto my face b4. AAAARGH!!!!!

dun say i never share....

haha... yeah! i've been d/ling conan (the jap anime... not the rambo kind of show!!) until i've so many more episodes yet to be watched that i decided to stop taking up some bandwidth of my house's internet.

however...when i leave my laptop on when i'm not surfing the net, i feel kinda guilty - for wasting electricity, and for letting my laptop 'function' for nothing. and so... i went to check out the latest drama spore is showing. turned out that there is this "新加坡年度大局" that just started showing since 7 Nov!!! haahaa... no idea why it's a 年度大局 becos i duno most of the actors and actresses in it, except for Jeanette Aw. but i guess that is the exact reason why it's such a 'BIG' show... cos the other actors and actresses are from countries like China, Taiwan and HongKong~ oh well... they dun look that attractive to me.

nonetheless, i quite like Jeanette Aw. (but i dun like her image and character in this show leh..) and this show revolves around dancing!!! which i quite enjoy watching... somemore it's being publicised as the 新加坡年度大局!!! (oh well..) so aiya, just d/l and see loh... dun like can always delete mah, right? so yalah... if u are a spore drama fan like me too... here's the link to its 1st episode + interview. =)

and 红星大奖 is here once again!! 4 of Dec... this year's 20 大最受欢迎男女艺人dun look so popular to me leh... as in, excluding the ones that always get in lah!! hmm... maybe i've been out of the spore scene for too long lah. *shrug* heehee...

15 years younger

attending spanish lesson gives me a very familiar feeling. not that i've learnt spanish before... but that i feel like i'm 15 years younger.

rmb when u were in pri 1 or 2... when u simply duno wat's going on during english lesson until u asked your friend sitting next to you... then both of you tried hard to figure out which page of the workbook you are supposed to do, and how it should be done? or another time, when u finally managed to catch what the teacher is asking and surprisingly you THINK know the answer as well, you will excitedly put up your hand to answer or simply just shout out the answer enthusiastically. hmm... sounds familiar to you??

this is definitely very familiar to me during my spanish lesson. i can just stare at the teacher blankly as she blabbers away in some familiar accent, and sometimes even familiar words, but i just cant put together what she's talking. when she asked me a question, i could only look at her helplessly, hoping she'll repeat the questions much slower or even better, translate to english for me. when once in a while she asked the class a general question and the answer popped out of my mind suddenly, i would blurt out the answer immediately, unintentionally at a volume high enough for all to hear. of cos when i got it right, i'll secretly beamed in pride... just like a little girl do when she got the right answer to 6 x 8!! haha.... but when i got it wrong, especially realizing my mistake right after my 'confident' reply, it's extremely embarrassing. >_<

i find it really amusing that a class of, on the average, 20 yr old university students, who are studying in imperial college, supposedly one of the top universities, suddenly became so "stupid". We spent 1 hour learning how to read 'abc'... and cant even answer simple question like 'What is the time now'~ haha... of cos, i have excluded the 'geniuses' in the class who can score full marks in essays with no mistakes, and can just read the text as though they've been speaking it for years.

well... very elementary, but very fun. if only it's not for credit... cos i haven't been scoring well in my coursework. haha... but just as well, cos it's my most enthusiastic subject this year. i think i've spent much more time in it than any other academic stuff. heehee...

respect in relationships

1) Texting instead of sending a birthday card is not a goer. It generally tells your partner that you actually forgot their big day, and are sending a text to pretend that you haven't. Is your life really that busy?

2) Not only failing to hold a door open but actually letting it slam behind you in your partner's face is never on, no matter how much of a rush you are in. Even worse, is not saying thank you when someone holds the door open for you.

3) Email greetings cards are fine to friends if you put a bit of effort into them (ie: not the freebies you get on a google search) but unless your significant other is miles from home with only an internet connection for company, it really does show a shocking lack of thoughtfulness.

4) Eating the last chocolate in the box without consulting your partner is unwise - if it also happens to be their favourite, it's unforgivable.

5) Rushing ahead to bag the window seat on a train, 'plane or bus before offering it to your partner could lead to an abrupt end to your relationship.

6) When it's raining, hogging the umbrella to the extent that your partner is left uncovered and soaked is not very considerate. Cuddle up, or you might find it's not just the umbrella that is left surplus to requirements.

7) Drivers who repeatedly park the car so they have loads of room to exit the vehicle, whilst their partner must squeeze like a contortionist to get out, deserve have not just their car keys confiscated, but their relationship too.

8) Taping over or deleting your partner's favourite programmes from your Sky+ planner in order to make room for your own, is not just lacking in chivalry, it's just plain mean!

9) The definition of a swine is a one who hogs the remote control 24/7, especially if they go to the extent of actually taking it off their partner when they enter the room.

10) Insisting your partner always goes to the bar to get the drinks in, especially when you're out in a big group with most of your mates, is not just tight, it's rude!

just for laughs

and u tot it's over... no, the bites are back... and they've got reinforcement. >_< k.. i duno if there's reinforcement or if that particular bug just got more hungry or more powerful... in any case, it got worse and yesterday i suffered around slightly more than 10 new bites... all in just one day, or rather, all in just 10min. how lovely. and it seemed like i'm not the only one in the house that's bitten anymore... a few others have also started getting a few bites... bad news that the bug has started exploring out of my room? or good news that i'm not the only special one which the bug likes? *shrug* will tell the landlord abt it when he comes collect the rent on tues.... otherwise, no $$ for him! humph!

well... have been very busy... erm, not tat busy on mon, cos i ended up watching 'the seven swords' in the 'cinema' in my house. but other than that, i'm either bz sleeping, cooking or doing my CCM tutorial that is due on Fri... which i can gladly announced i've finally completed the C++ programming part!!!! hurray!!! i've such difficulties finding my last year's notes, revising the tutorials i did b4 to find out how C++ works, then figuring out how to program the problems, and when i finally get some programming out... i have to solve some problems which are really fundamental yet easily neglected, or some really stupid problems which i have no idea why that's wrong. but in any case... i spend a total of one and a half week on just that 2 questions (with a total of 7 sub questions...) i almost tot i have to spend my time in the comp lab till 10pm for today and tml... *phew* i am lucky.

but i have yet to start writing my SEE report. due on monday. aAAARgh!!!

wonder where all my time went to since yr 3's timetable is slacker than last year's.

aniway, i wasn't intending to write all those above. haha... my main intention was to intro to everyone to this blog: The Students' Sketchpad. just for laughs. =)
