thoughts from worktoday i went for a training workshop to learn how to use a program for modelling pipework. it's catered for the engineers in the team i'm attached to. there were 9 of us. we sat around the long conference table facing the projector screen. there's nothing special about workshop. i was so hungry halfway thru and my stomach was growling so loudly i couldn't concentrate at all. my attention span was gone long ago.
the only thing which struck me in this workshop was when i was looking at everybody who was listening attentively to the presenter and asking questions once in a while which relate the program to their job scope, and i suddenly felt very privileged to be sitting within this group of people, this group of engineers, this group of professionals. every one of them had a part to play in the team, and every one had their own responsibilities. i am impressed by how they go about doing their job and how sure they are of what they are doing. the effort they put into making sure that what they do are responsible and sensible, and not mere guesswork or consisting of careless mistake. i wonder how they did it, how they learn to do it. was there anyone to teach them that in the first place? and... can i do it, can i be like them? the first ting which i need to work on, is how to look fresh everyday right from the morning. i always wonder how every single working person were able to do that. each morning i ended up looking fresh..ly out of bed in the office. would putting on make-up help to cover that sleepiness? i'm too lazy to find out so that shall remain as a mystery for now.
well anyway, i'm beginning to realize working is not easy. not that i didn't know that previously, but i guess i'm starting to understand that difficulty much better now. and i agree and believe that one really need to be in a job of their passion in order to overcome all those obstacles, so that one would look forward to going to work every morning.
